Airport transport to Cabarete from Puerto Plata airport
Getting to Cabarete is quick and easy due to it’s location only 20 minutes drive from one of the Dominican Republics most important international airports. Puerto Plata Airport (POP) also called Gregorio Luperon International Airport is located just east of Puerto Plata city and just west of Sosua.
Departure is quick and easy, as Puerto Plata airport is tiny. Most will choose to take a taxi directly from the airport. You can’t miss them as taxis will offer their service right outside of the airport door. Expect to pay 30 – 35 USD for a taxiride to Cabarete. If you don’t have USD there are cash machines just outside of the airport.
Santiago and transport to Cabarete
Another decent option is to fly into Santiago airport (Aeropuerto Internacional del Cibao), and take a taxi from there. By taxi it’s about 1.5 hours, and the cost is about 80 USD, but you can divide that by up to 10 passengers. Beware of taxi drivers that try to charge you 80 USD per person. Fare is pr trip regardless of number of passengers.
Santo Domingo and transport to Cabarete
Arriving in the Dominican Republics capital, Santo Domingo is an option if you wish to see the city. But the busride will take you up to 7 hours and if you go by taxi it’s still four hours.
Punta Cana to Cabarete
Flying into Punta Cana, which is located on the far east coast of the Island, when you are coming to the North Coast is not advisable. A bus trip could take about 7-8 hours if not more. It’s not a lot of fun and you will probalby be hauling all that kitesurf gear.
